New Roads Counseling - Marty Schwebel, LMFT

Providing psychotherapy for those who are overwhelmed with life

LMAO – Laugh my arms off?!! ankles?!

July 10, 2019 by Marty

Crack-up, in a good way

You know that feeling when you are laughing so hard that your stomach hurts and your face feels twisted into a permanent grin? Maybe tears are running down your face from the absurdity of whatever got you laughing in the first place? That’s the kind of laughter that can rock you out of a hard space and help you see life from a different perspective.

Cheech and Chong

When I was a kid, my older brother had an LP of Cheech and Chong (irreverent I know!) and it used to make me laugh like that. Today I settle for watching comedians on Youtube. Part of my self care is cracking up over the way these entertainers interpret life and this regular activity always helps me into a better space.

Laughing in difficult times gets the endorphins going!

Those chuckles help decrease the stress hormones in your body and increase the depression fighting ones. In fact “Laugh Therapy” is statistically supported as an alternative therapy for stress and depression. So hang out with those friends that get you giggling (or find some comedians to watch) and see if the world grows a bit brighter.

Crushers of Comedy

I challenge you to laugh more and see how it has a positive correlation  on your overall physical and mental health. Even better, why don’t you consider joining me at the Deerfield Ranch Winery in Kenwood, CA on the evening of July 27th? Bring a picnic and enjoy some good laughter.
