The Beginnings of All Things Are Small

January 2, 2019 by Marty

“The beginnings of all things are small.”

This quote from Cicero was given to me by a friend when I was a student at Texas A&M University over 30 years ago. These words continue to remind me of the importance of starting with small changes instead of overdoing it when I want to make a change. If I want to reduce anxiety in my life, I could attempt to change many things all at once (more exercise, less sugar, more reading, less TV, see a therapist) which could potentially create more anxiety. Or, I could work on one or two small changes and master them before moving forward to make other positive changes.

What one or two changes would you like to make in 2019? Would you like to be less anxious? If so, consider making smaller adjustments in your life that will move you towards the goal of being calmer and more peaceful.
