This past weekend, my wife and I enjoyed a trip to San Diego. We love exploring new, unfamiliar places and even though we wore ourselves ragged by walking everywhere, in the end, we felt refreshed and restored by all the variety of experiences. One great memory was visiting the Cabrillo National Monument on the tip of Point Loma peninsula which was where the first European landed on the West Coast in 1542. We ended our weekend on this beautiful vista point watching gray whales on their journey south (photo credit: me).
When I travel, I am often freed up to think and reflect on my life. The quote by Seneca truly captures how I feel about travel. Being in a different place is a great way to “impart new vigor to the mind.” I encourage you all to find a place to renew your mind today. This place could actually be in your home town or you may find it by by taking a trip to a distant, exotic location. Opening yourself up to new places will invigorate your soul and help you experience life from a fresh perspective.
