October: National Depression & Mental Health Screening Month
A big part of my work as a mental health clinician is giving assessments to learn more about the state of my clients’ mental health. I realize that having someone else give us an assessment can be triggering because it may bring up feelings of shame or negative self worth.
Do I need help?
Many of us will resist going to a therapist because of the fear of being labeled as somehow lacking or deficient or that there’s something seriously wrong. But perhaps if we could find out whether we’re struggling with something specific that could be worked on in therapy, that would be enough to get us to pursue some help.
It’s easy and online
Understanding more about ourselves is the first step in addressing any existing or growing problems. I recently found this very simple and anonymous online self assessment which I suggest looking at, taking yourself, or recommending to someone you know who may be struggling with their mental health
Take the first step
I encourage you to press through any negative feelings about assessments. We’ve all wondered if what we’re dealing with is a possible issue or not! Whatever you learn could be the first step towards a healthier mental state.

Contact me if you would like to set up a free 15 minute consultation to determine whether you would like to work with me on your depression or anxiety. If we are not a good fit, I will find you a great therapist through my the network of great therapist I have worked hard to build.
