So much has happened this last week and I’m overwhelmed with grief (particularly sadness and anger) for all of the victims of mass shootings in our country. Grieving is all about processing our feelings of shock, sadness, and anger after we experience loss.
In times like this, I can get caught up with the notion that maybe I’m not doing enough to address the issues that we face in our country. Every time I go down this hole, I’m reminded that what I can do is love God and love others and that can make a difference in the world around me.
I always go to a classic scripture in 1 Corinthians 13 (Message Translation by Eugene Peterson) because these words remind me of my true purpose and how I can make a difference in this world, which is through providing quality care and counseling for those who are struggling with deep issues in their lives.
I encourage you to meditate on these words and I hope you find comfort and hopeful direction in them.
